Responsibilities
This senior tax analyst is primarily responsible for US and non-US income tax compliance, tax research, and account reconciliations. The individual will also provide additional support to indirect taxes or other projects as needed. Responsible for supporting day to day tax compliance functions and helping to evaluate tax positions to assess where the company can save taxes and how to reduce tax risks. This role will typically be challenged with competing deadlines from corporate head office, the business, and tax authorities, and the senior tax analyst must individually monitor and ensure timely submission.

*Prepares working papers and provides information to parent company for US federal and state income taxes.
*Reviews working papers and filings prepared by 3rd party tax advisors for non-US income taxes in Asia, Europe and other jurisdictions.
*Prepares working papers and reviews filings prepared by 3rd party tax advisors for non-US indirect taxes, such as Australian GST, Japan Consumption Tax, VAT and GST.
*Supports SOX compliance and financial statement reporting, including preparing financial reporting packages.
*Assist with annual Plan and quarterly Forecast submissions.
*Oversee Federal Excise Tax Compliance.
*Supports other US non-income taxes, such as property tax filings.
*Prepares necessary monthly tax journal entries and reconciles tax accounts.
*Stays current with and interprets new tax rates and regulations, performs tax research as needed. Evaluates tax positions, proposes solutions and escalates issues to tax managers.
*Advise the business with respect to such taxes. Acts as first point of contact for internal departments on such taxes. Provides accurate and timely responses to other departments on tax-related matters.
*Works closely with relevant internal business departments to review and ensure tax processes and reporting are properly maintained to support accurate and efficient tax compliance.
*Evaluates and recommends tax process changes as new reporting or compliance requirements arise.
*Analyzes supporting data for variances and unsupported amounts. Determine necessary adjustments needed.
*Provide backup and secondary support to other senior tax analyst as needed. Collaborates with Seattle based counterpart to align tax positions and processes.
*Support tax learning by leading tax technical learning for the tax team on a rotational basis.
*Support tax special projects on an ad-hoc basis.

Requirements
*Bachelor of the Arts or Bachelor of Science in a related field is highly preferred.
*4+ years of tax experience in public accounting or industry required and/or preferred.
*Knowledge of US, state and local, and foreign tax concepts required. Understands principles of the taxation and can independently prepare tax workpapers and tax returns.
*Accounting background required and/or preferred, in order to perform journal entries and account reconciliations.
*Knowledge of Word and Excel needed to complete tax workpapers.
*Ability to work with databases and financial systems, as will need to work with some proprietary systems (POLAR, Shipstar), other software (Bloomberg Tax Fixed Assets), and large ERPs (Oracle) to pull financial reports.
*Strong verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to advise businesses on tax matters.
*Must be able to collaborate and work well with team members.
*Work beyond normal business hours, particularly around filing deadlines, may be required occasionally to support business needs, projects or operational support that may be required outside of normal business hours or on weekends.
