Planate Management Group is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, and Orlando, Florida USA with a technical support center in South East Asia and East Africa, that provides program management and facilities engineering services worldwide.?Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies,?all over the world.

The Senior Architect will serve as a Lead Designer of the healthcare facilities and will be responsible for the application and interpretation of architectural requirements, conducting architectural studies surveys and investigations, developing designs, and performing team architectural reviews.

This requirement is for on-site (not remote) work at the VA Palo Alto Healthcare System (VAPAHCS).

This position is contingent on the award of the contract.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide technical review and oversight of the design-build process for a new, large-scale facility
  • Responsible for planning and developing an equipment plan and associated infrastructure requirements
  • Provide an architectural review of the design to support the achievement of all client objectives including local codes, aesthetics, and geotechnical conditions
  • Support the design approval process, recommends design changes to improve design value and constructability
  • Assist the client with review and approval of contractor’s submittals
  • Ensure that designs are within federal and local codes concerning health, safety, and environment of real property facilities
  • Identify all building infrastructure requirements for equipment installation related to power, data, HVAC, plumbing, etc.
  • Support quality assurance and quality control of contractor works
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation and disposition of government documentation requirements
  • Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

?Qualifications to be successful in the role:?

  • Bachelor’s in architecture from a program certified by the National Architecture Accrediting Board or
  • Shall have and maintain professional registration as an architect, NCARB or RA
  • Minimum of 5 years of specialized experience in the Architecture field.
  • Ability to interpret Architectural/Engineering plans and specifications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Experience in preparing written reports and maintaining official project records. Experience conducting meetings, briefing clients and management personnel.
  • Ability to inspect materials, workmanship, and construction and installation of various systems in the Architect’s or Engineer’s area of expertise.
  • Must have design and construction experience in a healthcare facility, essential
  • Must have the skillset and a working knowledge of engineering services, building codes, budgeting and scheduling to lead to the project’s success
  • Knowledge of safety practices in the construction industry, including specifically, a background that indicates familiarity with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety requirements on construction projects.
  • Must lawfully reside in the United States and be eligible for employment (Planate does not sponsor visas or work permits)
