What's the Opportunity?

Anchor QEA is seeking a full-time senior level engineer in our Amesbury, Massachusetts office to support our local and regional teams with a mix of civil, geotechnical, and environmental engineering design associated with port development projects to support the offshore wind market. The position will also involve similar support to other environmental remediation and coastal development projects. The applicant will have 10+ years of experience in managing engineering design projects involving site investigation, construction drawings and specifications, cost estimating, and construction oversight. Experience with waterfront projects including port facility planning and development, dredging, and beneficial reuse is preferred. Knowledge of local regulatory requirements is desired. Experience with using CAD or GIS for site planning, design, calculations, and oversight is preferred.


Responsibilities:

  • Project management of large, complex design and/or construction projects including team assignments and coordination; client interaction; scope, schedule and budget management; and production of deliverables
  • Developing and reviewing technical project work
  • Preparing and/or overseeing development of design plans and specifications for port and waterfront development, dredging, and sediment remediation projects
  • Developing and/or overseeing the development of engineer's cost estimates and construction schedules for designs
  • Technical writing to support the preparation of design documents, including technical specifications
  • Developing construction planning documents and overseeing and/or providing construction observations and management support
  • Mentoring junior staff on engineering principles
  • Travel to support construction projects up to 20% of time

What Are We Looking For?

Ideal candidates will have the following:

  • MS degree in civil, geotechnical, or environmental engineering is preferred
  • 10+ years of experience
  • P.E. licensure in the State of Massachusetts is desired, but consideration will be given to individuals with ability obtain license through reciprocity.
  • Strong project management skills for large, complex, multi-disciplinary projects
  • Experience with in-water and upland port development, including investigation, design, and construction. Experience with dredging, contaminated sediments, site remediation, permitting, beneficial reuse of dredge material, and/or geotechnical engineering preferred.
  • Experience with CERCLA and RCRA regulations and application to various stages of a remediation project
  • Strong understanding of the application of engineering principles to engineering design, including cost estimating, development of plans and specifications, development of bid packages, and overseeing design implementation in the field (i.e., construction management)
  • Experience with mentoring and training junior staff on engineering principles
  • Proficiency in MS Office (including MS Project)
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D experience a plus
  • Critical thinking and strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification, or willingness to be trained
