Job Description

The City of San Marcos Parking Enforcement Office is looking for a qualified individual to patrol assigned areas on foot, e-bike, and/or by vehicle to enforce parking regulations/restrictions as a Parking Control Officer. Schedule will be determined prior to hiring.

In this role, you will:

* Issue computer-generated parking citations with a handheld device while patrolling the City of San Marcos primarily on foot, e-bike and/or by vehicle.

* Communicate with the public to explain parking regulations.

* Perform traffic control duties during special events and traffic light outages. (As needed)

* Other duties required by the City of San Marcos. (As needed)

To be successful in this role you must have:

* High School Graduate or equivalent.

* Must have at least two years of work experience in a related field and/or customer service.

* Ability to learn, comprehend, and retain knowledge of policies and guidelines related to the California Vehicle Code and City of San Marcos Municipal Code.

* Must be computer literate to enter data accurately into handheld device.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

* Valid CA Driver's License required with a safe driving record.

* Must be able to report to work on-time for assigned shifts.

* Good sense of direction.

* Able to walk, e-bike for duration of shift in a variety of weather conditions and enter and exit

out of a vehicle frequently.

* Flexibility in schedule, work holidays if scheduled and mandatory special events.

Additional desired experience and skills:

* Traffic control experience

* Knowledgeable of radio calls. (10-codes and Phonetic alphabet)

* Familiar with City of San Marcos streets and boundaries.

* Experienced in operating company vehicles.
