Job Description
Sr. Fund Manager
Duration: 20 week contract with the opportunity to convert to a permanent employee based on performance.
Location: 700 Tiverton Ave. Factor Bldg 11-244 | Los Angeles, CA 90095-1678, while there is an opportunity to work a hybrid schedule, majority of work will be performed onsite. Local candidates only.
Interview Process: 2 step interview process, with the final being a Zoom with department Director and Fund Managers.
Team Make-up: The Division of Hematology- Oncology is the largest division within the UCLA HEALTH David Geffen School of Medicine. This is a fast paced yet rewarding position. The candidate will have a shared office space with other fund managers. We maintain the culture of our office by conducting weekly team building and productivity meetings.

Act as Sr. Fund Manager for the division of Hematology/Oncology. Manage all pre- and post-award for contracts and grants for the Division including NIH, State, Federal and private agencies. Assist with ERS certifications, training faculty and staff on the ERS certification process to assure meeting the University quarterly deadlines. Assist division administrator with establishing and managing sales & service accounts; train new fund managers and keep fund managers informed of new policies and procedures. Prepare & submit divisional overdraft reports to department on a monthly basis. Provide financial management for a large and complex program project grant. Reconcile monthly ledgers; compile fiscal information to be used to prepare annual budgets, financial reports, and projections utilizing information from University ledgers, Query Database (QDB/FPM), Financial Projection Module and the University online financial reports. Manage complex accounts including program project grants and training grants. Provide guidance to the PIs for funded projects to assure proper expenditure. Prepare and/or approve purchasing documents, expenditure invoices and other charges. Resolve any accounting problem or irregularities on a timely basis. Assist in the preparation of pre-award budgeting including salary, equipment, supplies and other expenses used in the proposed research. Assist division administrator with the training of new fund managers and other projects as assigned.
Required Experience:
  • 2 years of demonstrated working knowledge of NIH, DOD, DOE, and other industry sponsored contracts and grants.
  • Mathematical skills for the preparation of complex calculations and forecasts and to identify and resolve complex financial problems.
  • Prior Senior Level experience in monitoring expenses by reviewing variance reports, take appropriate action to adjust expenditures as necessary for all grants and projects.
