Position Highlights The University of Arizona's (UA) Department of Medicine is actively searching for candidates to fill an Associate or Full Professor role within the Division of Nephrology. This role, which is available through both the tenure and tenure-eligible paths, specifically seeks professionals in the clinical research track, with a specialized focus on patient care for glomerular diseases. The chosen candidate will be expected to take the lead in initiating and developing the first Glomerular Diseases Clinic (GDC) in Arizona. This will involve assuming managerial and leadership roles to drive the expansion of the program. Prior experience in conducting clinical trials is crucial for this role. Additionally, candidates with a track record of securing extramural funding will be highly favored. A joint appointment opportunity with the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System (SAVACHS) is currently available.

The Nephrology division is one of twelve within the Department of Medicine, which leads the UA College of Medicine-Tucson in research funding and size with two residency programs, 15 fellowship programs and numerous mentorship opportunities in multidisciplinary health science graduate programs. The College anchors the University of Arizona Health Sciences (UAHS) campus, which also houses the UA Colleges of Public Health, Pharmacy, and Nursing, as well as multiple research Centers of Excellence, and includes partnership with the SAVACHS.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide patient care in both the inpatient and outpatient settings at both campuses.
  • Initiate and develop a Glomerular Diseases Clinic (GDC), assuming managerial and leadership roles to expand the program.
  • Provide teaching service to students, residents and/or fellows as assigned.
  • Development of clinical trials and extramural research funding.
Minimum Qualifications
  • MD, DO, or equivalent.
  • Board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine/Medical Subspecialties and eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in the State of Arizona.
  • Board certified in Nephrology.
  • Glomerulonephritis (GN) fellowship training and/or acquired a minimum of 3 years' experience in GN.
  • Demonstrated track record of distinction in teaching, clinical care, and/or research in an academic department of medicine or equivalent environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient care, reflecting a service-oriented, team-based philosophy with hospital administration and health professional colleagues from all disciplines, departments, and specialties.
  • If the individual selected for employment does NOT currently hold a faculty title with The University of Arizona College of Medicine-Tucson, they will be required to obtain faculty status. This will include obtaining letters of recommendation and review by the appropriate College review committee.

Preferred Qualifications * Additional health profession degree (e.g., PhD, MPH, MS, etc.).
