R&D Staff Engineer - Image Processing

Synopsys is looking for a highly motivated software engineer to help enable leading edge semiconductor manufacturing processes by joining our computational lithography modeling team. As part of the Proteus R&D team, you will have a unique opportunity to apply image processing techniques to improve the computation of Fourier imaging systems, with complex software engineering requirements, to help solve previously unsolved problems and enable next generation semiconductor manufacturing. This dynamic, collaborative, and exciting environment offers plenty of opportunities for both broad exposure to new technologies, as well as the ability to learn deeply within specific modeling topics.

The responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining and improving existing mathematical models accuracy and consistency through improved image processing techniques

  • Working withfield support team andcustomers to understand new technical requirements

  • Designing and utilizing innovative, image processing techniques

  • Creating specifications for prototyping, and developing new modeling solutions

  • Collaboratingwith cross functional teams to integrate modeling solutions into existing products

  • Reducing computational burden for current image processing solutions

  • Understanding and exploring Machine Learning based options for improving image quality and computation

Qualification Requirements:

  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with strong desire to explore new technologies

  • Solid programming skills in C++ and Python and familiar with data structures and algorithms

  • Strong background in physical modeling, statistical analysis and optimization

  • Experience in numerical computation

  • Good communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment

  • MS in CS/EE/physics/applied math or relatedfields with 3+ years, or PhD inrelatedfields

Nice to have:

  • Experience in computational lithography, image processing, or machine learning

  • Experience in the development oflarge,complex software projects

The base salary range across the U.S. for this role is between $117,000.00 - $204,000.00. In addition, this role may be eligible for an annual bonus, equity, and other discretionary bonuses. The actual compensation offered will be based on a number of job-related factors, including location, skills, experience, and education.
