The Kaufman School of Dance at the University of Southern California is searching for general Stage Technicians to build a pool of candidates for future Part-Time Resource Employee positions. Stage Technicians are considered "resource employees" and are hourly, non-exempt employees with flexible scheduling. This is a great opportunity for technicians residing in the greater Los Angeles area.

Although Stage Technician is broad, we are looking for experienced professionals who are well-versed in in-house management, stage management, lighting design and/or sound design. A specialty in one area is great and versatility is excellent.

Time Commitment: Stage Technicians for USC Kaufman will be scheduled for periods of 2-3 weeks at a time. They will work primarily on the USC campus and will join the resident crew for specific shows, events, rehearsals and/or performances. Kaufman does not require specific availability and will work to accommodate schedules. Availability of afternoons, evenings and weekends is preferred.

Description of Services: Performing skilled work in various para-professional and technical tasks in the areas of theatrical sound, lights, rigging, stage management and house management. This includes handling technical problems that arise during the event. Duties include performing facility setup including stage preparation, installation of scenic elements, audio and lighting equipment setup and supervising complex theatre and stage equipment. As a Stage Technician, we can offer the ability to be a lighting designer, programmer, audio engineer, stage manager, assistant stage manager and/or house manager for Kaufman Dance Performances. Stage Technicians will be working with college students and will be tasked to create a comfortable learning environment for student dancers as well as student workers. Other duties as assigned.

Resource Employees are not eligible to receive benefits except for the exception basic disability and worker's compensation, and sick time accrual.

The hourly rate ranging from $23.50- $25 will be based on experience. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations. (This language in red is required by the University in compliance with Pay Transparency Laws).

Minimum Requirements: 2-5 years experience in professional theatrical production management, stage lighting, stage design, box office house management or costume design.
