The Senior Project Engineer will be responsible for executing the full Project Life Cycle on a propulsion system program. Typical duties will include assisting the Program Manager and Chief Engineer in planning, scope management, scheduling, budget control and managing the technical execution with the support of the engineering, manufacturing and supplier management teams. This includes the full integration of multiple mechanical and electrical systems. Additional duties will include performing technical analysis, conceptualizing new product designs, establishing system requirements and specifications, planning and conducting test and product verification activities, analyzing test data, developing new business relationships, and generating customer presentations. Moreover, this position requires interfacing with the customer as well as managing work scope at different suppliers and subcontractors.

Working under limited general direction:
15% - Lead technical activities on major Propulsion and Power programs. Perform tasks, delegate tasks and make decision's required to design, analyze, build and test Propulsion and Power Systems. Direct and coordinate all engineering work; manage technical progress and schedule and cost status as needed. Complete all Earned Value Management (EVM) assigned duties which include monitoring the "estimate at complete" (EAC), schedule analysis reporting, variance analysis and budget change requests. Verify Aerojet Rocketdyne's products are in compliance with customer requirements.
50% - Manage and lead technical activities at major suppliers. This includes managing supplier performance on scope, schedule and budget on supplier design, manufacturing, assembly and test phases of the project. The candidate will develop an integrated master schedule and ensure a timely execution of tasks. Frequent travel may be required at times.
15% - Lead investigations or technical studies to closure rapidly and rigorously, applying appropriate resources, procedures, and personnel in a cost-effective manner. Accumulate, prepare and present the documentation that is required to close an effort, including reports, Test Procedures and Work Instructions.
10% - Support proposal activities and manage internal research and development efforts as assigned.
10% - Active mentoring of less experienced personnel. Cultivate an existing knowledge base and build on it to serve as a resource to Aerojet Rocketdyne and our customers for design, test and implementation of thrusters and propulsion systems.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related engineering discipline and at least 5 years of experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience), preferably in government space contracts and propulsion. A Master's degree or higher in an Engineering discipline is preferred. Priority will be given to candidates with demonstrated engineering leadership experience in a production environment developing and improving products and manufacturing processes. Candidates with Earned Value Management and Cost Account Management experience also preferred.
Strong verbal, written, presentation, and team-working skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Project, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is required.
Requires U.S. Citizenship or status as a U.S. Person. Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
