Job Description:
Saalex Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Corporate Safety Manager responsible for establishing, implementing and enforcing health and safety (H&S) policies, practices and programs, including compiling and maintaining necessary records, logs, and reports pertaining to safety and training as required by the company, contractor, client, federal, state, and local rules and regulations. This position will also engage with supporting and leading various Quality Assurance initiatives within the company.
Experience and Education:
Ensuring compliance across the organization, the Corporate Safety Manager will:
* Researches safety regulations and informs senior management of changes. Implements actions to maintain compliance.
* Ensures all injuries and incidents are reported and managed according to Saalex Corporation and Government requirements.
* Manages special safety assignments and projects to ensure adherence to safety regulations and to determine needs for updating safety codes. Makes and implements safety policies and procedures as appropriate.
* Responsible for leading the development and growth of organization-wide process improvement efforts. Identify areas of opportunity, quantify the opportunity, define the potential improvements (i.e. eliminate, streamline, automate), help lead the implementation of improvements and measure the results. Ability to gain consensus and commitment within cross-functional and cross business unit teams to execute and quickly implement the identified changes as well as to "evangelize" process improvement thinking throughout the corporation.
* Perform regular safety inspections and surveillance, and conduct formal environmental, health and safety (EHS) audits to ensure contract requirements are met or exceeded.
* Evaluate violations or problems discovered during inspections and advise management on change implementation for compliance with corporate and government EHS policies. Follow up to ensure effectiveness and adherence by employees.
* Review site-specific EHS plans and procedures to establish validity and any need for amendment.
* Investigate spills and accidents and prepare reports for submission to the customer.
* Investigate personal incidents and aircraft/vehicle accidents to determine root cause and any corrective actions to prevent a repeat occurrence.
* Manage and administer compliance with all federal, corporate and customer environmental protection programs including required OSHA specific programs.
* Recommend, implement, and assist in the execution of a variety of workplace safety, industrial hygiene, and safety training programs to prevent injury and occupational illness.
* Coordinate safety committee meetings. Produce and disseminate safety committee meeting minutes and tracks action items to completion.
* Monitor the use and storage of hazardous materials in the workplace and research the practicality of environmentally friendly alternatives. Monitor the generation, storage, and turn-in of regulated wastes.
* Responsible for administering the Environmental Protection Program and the Respiratory Protection Program.
* Collate the site Hazardous Material Report and Safety Report for submission as required.
* Direct research and analysis of training needs, recommending to management any necessary training program revisions, and suggesting new training options.
* Identify, organize and sequence subject matter to be taught in training programs to ensure maximum effectiveness.
* Prepare training manuals and other training aids and conduct or assist line management and supervisors in the delivery of training to department employees.
* Plan, develop, and implement employee training and orientation programs based on needs as determined by input provided by management and staff.
* Confer with management and internal / external department staff to develop classroom and individual training programs to increase staff effectiveness in areas such as customer service, marketing, and management.
* Participate in assessing and determining training needs through investigation, consultation, and evaluation of training requests.
* Participate in reviewing, evaluating and reporting metrics on the effectiveness of existing and new training programs.
* Survey and research industry publications and literature to keep abreast of current industry trends and training methods.
* Coordinate the activities of others engaged in conducting training sessions for employees of the department.
Other Requirements:
* Must have thorough knowledge of the OSHA Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP).
* Hands on knowledge of Microsoft products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio)
* Position will be located in Camarillo, CA (Saalex Corporate HQ location)
* Position will require frequent travel to Saalex Program sites (i.e. Ridgecrest, Pt. Mugu and Temecula, CA locations with occasional East Coast travel)
* Must be able to acquire and maintain a secret security clearance

Physical Requirement:
* Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
* Dexterity to operate office and field equipment as required by the position.
