Group/Division

With over 40 years of semiconductor process control experience, chipmakers around the globe rely on KLA to ensure that their fabs ramp next-generation devices to volume production quickly and cost-effectively. Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design, KLA's Global Products Group (GPG), which is responsible for creating all of KLA's metrology and inspection products, is looking for the best and the brightest research scientist, software engineers, application development engineers, and senior product technology process engineers. The Broadband Plasma Division (BBP) provides market-leading patterned wafer optical inspection systems for leading-edge IC manufacturing. Logic, foundry, and memory customers depend on BBP products to detect yield-critical defects for process debug and excursion monitoring at advanced process nodes. BBP flagship products include the 29xx and 39xx series which leverage Broadband Plasma technology to capture a wide range of defects with ultimate sensitivity at the optical inspection speeds needed for inline defect monitoring.

Job Description/Preferred Qualifications

This position belongs to the Electrical Engineer Hardware team in the Broadband Plasma Wafer Inspection (BBP) division. This person will drive the FPGA and firmware design in the Electrical Engineer Hardware group. The individual needs strong FPGA design, analysis, and debugging skills. The individual needs solid knowledge and experience with HDL(Systemverilog, Verilog, VHDL), Xilinx FPGA design tools, Electrical test equipment, and Python script for testing. The individual will be performed design work for our new programs.

Responsibilities

  • Work together with the hardware and embedded software engineer to design FPGA Firmware for high-performance mixed-signal systems

  • Define FPGA Firmware requirement specifications and develop design projects from concept design to production release.

  • Responsible for designing the test benches for simulation, timing analysis/closure, FPGA functionality verification and test scripts for validation.

  • Write technical documentation that meets the defined quality standards for manufacturing / service team as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years hands-on experience with complex FPGA firmware designs

  • Hands on Experience with AMD(Xilinx) or Intel(Altera) FPGAs

  • Proficiency with FPGA simulation tools such as VCS, Modelsim or equivalent.

  • Proficiency with FPGA design tools such as Synplify, ISE, Vivado, Quartus.

  • Proficiency with Hardware description language such as VHDL, Verilog or System Verilog.

  • Understand FPGA timing analysis and be able to solve timing related issues.

  • Hands on experience with lab equipment like logic analyzer, oscilloscope etc.

  • Team player with excellent written and verbal communications skills.

Minimum Qualifications

Doctorate (Academic) Degree and 0 years related work experience, Master's Level Degree + 3 years, or Bachelor's Level Degree +5 years
