Position Summary

Allan Hancock College is accepting applications for credit part-time instructors to teach credit English as a second language (ESL) in the Languages and Communication Department. Classes may be held during in the evenings or daytime, at our Santa Maria or Lompoc Valley campus. The anticipated start date is January 2023.

Essential Functions and Qualifications

* Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines.
* Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
* Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas.
* Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member.
* Teach all scheduled classes.
* Maintain accurate records.
* Assignments may include day, evening, or weekend classes.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's in TESL, TESOL, applied linguistics with a TESL emphasis, linguistics with a TESL emphasis, English with a TESL emphasis or education with a TESL emphasis
OR
Bachelor's in TESL, TESOL, English with a TESL certificate, linguistics with a TESL certificate, applied linguistics with a TESL certificate, or any foreign language with a TESL certificate
AND master's in linguistics, applied linguistics, English, composition, bilingual/bicultural studies, reading, speech or any foreign language
OR the equivalent.

Lecture Rate: $57.72 to $77.18 per hour depending upon education and experience

Lab Rate: $50.28 to $67.20 per hour depending upon education and experience

Activity Rate: $37.13 to $50.62 per hour depending upon education and experience
