Overview:

The role of the shelter monitor is to supervise clients receiving services from the Santa Cruz Corps Shelter Program as well as assisting in keeping shelter areas clean and orderly.

Duties:

  • Establishes and maintains a safe and secure environment with emphasis on non-violent communication and intervention.
  • Maintains and monitors supply inventory, restocking cabinets/shelves, notifying staff of supplies shortage and reporting misuse of supplies.
  • Intercedes and mitigates conflicts between shelter guest, exercising diplomacy and trauma informed care to deescalate the dispute and reach a solution.
  • Develops respectful relations with shelter guests; learning names, identifying specific needs, checking in, active listening, answering questions and providing information.
  • Enforces shelter rules and expectations in a consistent manner, utilizing principles of conflict mitigation and trauma informed care.
  • Completes shelter duties such as sweeping, mopping, spraying handles, tables and countertops, refill towels, spray down and clean toilets within the shelter facility.
  • Any other duties relating to your job as requested by the Supervisors and/or Officers.

Some college (preferred)
High School or Equivalent (required)

Experience
Social Services (preferred)
