Job Summary:
Vertex Pharmaceuticals is seeking a highly motivated, creative and innovative summer intern to join our Discovery Core Applied Technology (DCAT) Group. Our team is dedicated to developing platforms that enable rapid sample plating and assay execution globally. As part of this internship, the candidate will have the opportunity to implement robust software solutions to transfer and track small-molecule samples.
Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will
- Learn lab workflows that are currently manual
- Interpret and contribute to design specification development
- Collaborate with DCAT to implement software solutions that meet end user's needs
- Use critical thinking to tackle challenges unique to the biotech industry
Qualifications:
Required Education, Experience and Skills
- Currently enrolled in a B.S. degree program
- Software engineering related background
- SQL, C#, JavaScript, HTML, CSS
- Ability to interface and maintain effective relationships with the team
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- UX/UI design
- Python
- Knowledge of configuration management tools (e.g. Subversion, Git, etc.)
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Candidate must be enrolled in an advanced degree program if graduating in Spring 2024
Program Dates: June-September 2024, Full Time
Pay Range $20.00 - $25.00 USD/hour
