Our Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Principal/Principal Scientist for our Data Sciences Practice in Menlo Park, CA, though hiring in another location may be considered.

You will be responsible for
  • Providing statistical consulting services to clients in diverse projects involving study design, data analysis, modeling and inference, and expert testimony
  • Providing expertise in one or more of the following areas:
    • Experimental design
    • Survey sampling
    • Industrial quality control
    • Analysis of reliability and life data
    • Statistical data mining
    • Bayesian methods
  • Developing business by attracting work from external clients within the first year after hire
  • Recruiting and mentoring junior members of consulting staff
  • Leveraging your existing professional network and Exponent's capabilities to generate new business leads and offer enhanced value to the firm's current clients
You will have the following skills and qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Statistics, Biostatistics, Data Science, or a related field
  • At least seven years of professional experience in Statistics, Biostatistics, or Data Science
  • Proven track record as a successful consulting statistician and strategic advisor
  • Proven record of business generation and success in securing contracts or funding
  • Demonstrated leadership and project management skills
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate statistical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • A strong record of professional contributions as evidenced by publications or related activities

Compensation

Our consultants are rewarded for their technical and business contributions and have an opportunity to plan for future success and career growth. Exponent's total compensation plan is consistent with its expectations of the quality and quantity of work performed and with the professional standards set by Exponent. At the Manager level and above total compensation includes base salary, annual bonus, and 401(k) employer contribution of 7% of base salary.

The base salary range for this position is $180,000 - $250,000 depending on experience and capabilities, which will be assessed during the interview process.
