Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Senior Mechanical Engineer, we'll count on you to:

  • Developing hydro mechanical project solutions for both modernization and new projects.
  • Engineering consulting, including condition assessments, studies, mechanical engineering and detailed design, calculations, and specification development.
  • Engineering for equipment procurement, development of technical specifications, reviewing fabrication and installation activities for conformance to engineering design and specifications.
  • Researching and analyzing data such as customer concepts and equipment layouts to determine feasibility of design or application.
  • Evaluating field installations and recommending design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.
  • Provide field support during construction.
  • Provide support in developing proposals.
  • Other tasks as required to support project goals and HDR business activities.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 10 years experience in the power industry with preferred experience across large valves, turbines and piping systems
  • PE
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, MS Project and AutoCAD
  • The ability to handle multiple diverse assignments successfully in a consulting firm environment.
  • The ability to perform as a key member of an interdisciplinary project team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to mentor EITs and younger staff on the team
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hydro power industry experience
  • Experience with rotating equipment, heavy machinery, and engineering design

The expected compensation range for this position is $113,421 - $162,030 annually depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location.
