Duties and Responsibilities:
Functioning within a convergence research team that embraces deep integration across disciplines, the Postdoc will lead the research, development, and deployment of socio-technological solutions for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC community) and underserved patients that identify unmet needs and maximize their trust and access to diabetes technology.  The overall work plan consists of multiple cycles. There are three stages per cycle, and each cycle spans approximately three years: Discover, Identify Solutions, and Research and Develop.  The "Discover stage" focuses on activities such as conducting literature reviews, identifying methods to recruit people with diabetes (PWD) from local community populations, and conducting surveys and interviews.  The "Identify stage" entails a rigorous collaboration with the Medtronic team to meticulously discern solution strategies. Subsequently, the research team will validate these strategies through consultations with subject matter experts and comprehensive participants' feedback.  In the "Research and Development" stage the team's focus pivots toward the creative process. Within this phase, the team engages in the ideation of potential solutions, executes a precise and detailed design and implementation of these concepts, and subjects them to exhaustive testing.
 
The Postdoc will work under the guidance of the ARCS director faculty, and Medtronic advisor. In the role of lead Investigator, the postdoc will take on the responsibility of collaborating with our Industry partner Medtronic. Furthermore, the postdoc will take charge of leading and supervising a team consisting of graduate and undergraduate students from CSUN. The Postdoc will be expected to work with advisors and collaborators to develop research thrusts that can be supported through grant funding and develop funding proposals.

Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Health Sciences, Medical Anthropology, Gender Studies, Bioengineering, or other relevant field. PhD applicants from other disciplines may also be considered if they can document multidisciplinary backgrounds that among other areas include: ethnography, data analysis, statistics, research involving human participants, and human factors involving medical issues.
- 1-2 years of relevant experience in a research environment

Knowledge, Specialized Skills, and Abilities:
Experience conducting fieldwork within underserved and under-resourced communities
- Eagerness to learn and a willingness to accept feedback from peers and supervisors/mentors, and thrive in a collaborative environment
- Strong written communication, especially as it relates to developing competitive grant proposals
- Excellent verbal communication, particularly regarding presenting research findings and supervising undergraduates and graduates
- Ability to work within highly interdisciplinary, technical settings (i.e., among experts within the biomedical engineering community)
- A genuine desire to advance health equity

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
This position is employed through The University Corporation (TUC).
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8 am- 5 pm
Full Pay range: $66,560.00- $201,276.00
The anticipated hiring range: $67,000-$75,000
Time Base: Full-Time
