Job Summary

Independently uses and applies wide-ranging experience and proficiency in organizational development, effectiveness, business process analysis and strategic planning on projects that involve multiple organizations and stakeholders. Uses advanced organizational development professional concepts and organization objectives to resolve complex organizational development, design and effectiveness issues. Regularly works on highly complex issues of strategic engagements where analysis of circumstances and information requires an in-depth evaluation of factors. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.

Involves assessing organizational and strategic issues and providing guidance through organizational development solutions such as facilitating assessments, strategic planning, and culture-change and process-oriented approaches to enhance institutional performance. Consults with leaders, departments, and committees to address root causes of organizational effectiveness issues using a systematic approach. Analyzes current organizational purpose, structure, relationships, policies, systems, and data. Recommends and facilitates improvements ensuring alignment with organizational strategy.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Department Description

The UCSF Contact Center is an integrated team that supports both patient and provider requests for access to care at UCSF Health. Administrative functions include 1) appointment scheduling, 2) referral intake, review and
processing,3) coordinating any other administrative or clinical patient call-based requests to support effective care delivery. The Contact Center team supports the organization's goal to be the #1 Health System in Northern
California in health care value, patient experience, and employee engagement by ensuring our ambulatory clinics
provide timely access to care for our patients. We strive to provide care when, where and how our patients need it.

The team works closely with practices to support improvement efforts and with various departments across the
organization (e.g. marketing, IT) to set strategic goals and develop innovative patient care access solutions.


This position works within the Ambulatory/Faculty Practice Organization's administrative services department. This group supports the overall performance of the FPO which is comprised of 150 clinics, over 2M patient visits annually and is comprised of 2800+ staff that support more than 2000 faculty physicians.

Required Qualifications

Advanced knowledge of the organizational development and effectiveness field, theories, models to assess, design and implement customized, strategic organization interventions. Demonstrates strong analytical, problem-solving, project planning and implementation skills. Highly skilled in facilitation, consulting and relationship building. Applies strong verbal, written communication and presentation skills. Possesses strong consulting, relationship building, and strategic thinking skills. Demonstrates skill consulting to managers and groups at all levels. Ability to coach, facilitate and influence people at all levels. Demonstrates ability to learn quickly, reason, synthesize and generalize based on information obtained; sound judgment; ability to draw unbiased conclusions. Ability to focus on priorities, strategies, and vision. Knowledge of the consulting process to effectively lead engagements from inception to conclusion. Ability to persuade through both logic and appeal to positive motivations. Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced degree preferred.
