Position Highlights Multiple Research Scientist positions are available in the research lab of Dr. Hongyue Jin in the Department of Systems and Industrial Engineering at the University of Arizona. The research scientist(s) will work on techno-economic analysis and life cycle assessment of novel technologies in collaboration with industry, national labs, and universities.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Conduct Techno-economic analyses and Life cycle assessments on novel technologies.
  • Design and potentially run experiments. Assess their effectiveness and make changes to optimize the process.
  • Organize and analyze qualitative data using software tools. Develop project reports based on the data.
  • Communicate research results in a variety of publication venues, i.e., writing, publishing and presenting conference and journal publications.
  • Assist in writing grant and funding proposals.
  • Collaborate with internal researchers, existing partners in industry, national laboratories and with other universities.
  • Identify and pursue new research opportunities and collaborations.
  • Provide guidance to graduate students.
  • Additional duties may be assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with conducting TEA and LCA on (bio)chemical processes, rare earth extraction and metal reduction, magnet production and recycling, Li-ion battery recycling, solar PV recycling, cement/concrete manufacturing, and additive manufacturing.
