Position Highlights The Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering invites applications for multiple adjunct faculty positions to teach one of three possible courses: ChEE 300, Introduction to Water Chemistry for Engineers, ChEE 301b Chemical engineering laboratory II, and ChEE 474/574 Fate and Transport Processes in Environmental Engineering for the spring of 2024.

Spring 2024 classes begin January 10th and run through May 9th with final examinations the week of May 3-9th.

Duties & Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities include three hours of lecture per week for approximately 15 weeks of the course. The course syllabus and material will be provided by the department head. The course material will include a textbook, in-class activities, and example quizzes, homework, exams, etc.

Adjunct Lecturer will be responsible for supervising teaching assistants (TA) or graders depending on course enrollment numbers.

Adjunct Lecturer must be accessible by students in office hours that may meet on campus or via phone/Zoom for 2 hours per week during their instructional period. Also, the instructor should be available via email throughout the week.

Adjunct Lecturer will be responsible for preparing and delivering all lectures; development of homework and providing homework solutions to the grader or TA; and development and grading of examinations.

Adjunct Lecturer is responsible for entering grades into the UA online system.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Selected candidate will hold a PhD in Chemical or Environmental Engineering or relevant background OR MS degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering or equivalent discipline and 5+ years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching at the university level with preference to having taught this or a similar course.
