Job Description

SUMMARY:

The Planning Supervisor is responsible for production planning and coordinates production workflow for multiple products while prioritizing operations to ensure maximum performance and minimum delay. Will take a lead role in continuous improvement, product flow and capacity improvement to improve the overall efficiency of manufacturing.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage forecast product as required by customer needs, production demand including VMI and KANBAN programs
  • Serve as Global Supply Planning expert and support the Sales and Operations Planning process
  • Analyze customer forecasts and purchase patterns (consumption) to perform optimum inventory planning; manage material requirement planning (MRP) execution
  • Determine BOM inaccuracies and enact hold policy on WIP resulting in rapid resolution and an accurate bill of material record
  • Generate report system to track comprehensive information about FGI units and work in progress (WIP)
  • Reconcile inventory and make sure the allocated inventory is flushed out against work in process (WIP)
  • Work with management in coordinating and planning production activities to improve runtime
  • Plan production tasks and schedules according to customer orders and develop and review production plan with Managers for approval
  • Monitor the execution of production plan and resolve any potential issues in a timely fashion
  • Investigate production problem, analyze root causes, and provide solutions
  • Analyze back orders, current orders, and upcoming orders to prioritize, plan, and schedule the production operation
  • Plan equipment, material, and manpower requirements to execute job orders
  • Coordinate with Managers in planning and implementing engineering changes in production lines
  • Interact with shop floor management daily to resolve issues regarding manufacturing efficiencies or to provide additional information as requested from Manufacturing, Customer Service and Accounting
  • Develop and achieve departmental/company goals and controls. Make suggestions for improvement in areas of cost reduction, processes, quality, and productivity
  • Confer with department supervisors to determine progress of work and completion dates; inventory levels and solving production problem
  • Coordinator and Leader for Semi-Annual Physical Inventory Counts at Fremont site

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor's degree in business or supply chain management preferred.
  • 5 to 10 years of related Materials Planner experience; preferably in an OEM environment
  • Computer proficiency is required, including skills with the use of Microsoft Operating Systems and Microsoft Applications especially Excel.
  • Knowledge and experience in MRP and/or ERP systems related to inventory control, materials requirements planning, item master, demand planning, capacity planning.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • ASCM certifications such as CPIM preferred.
  • Team management experience
  • Monitor production progress and ensure that final product meets quality standards and customer specifications.
  • Plan inventory management processes to avoid shortages and excesses
  • Analyze delays and interruptions and accordingly adjust production schedule to meet deadlines
  • Maintain reports for production planning activities and sequences
