Role Description

Form Energy is hiring an experienced professional to manage the development and execution of Form's global supply chain strategy for critical battery chemicals and raw materials used in Form's pioneering iron-air battery systems. This role reports to the Manager, Global Supply Management ("GSM") for Active Battery Materials. As part of the "Actives" GSM team, you will establish and execute on Form's commercial-scale battery chemicals sourcing strategy, owning categories like bulk commodity chemicals, specialty carbons and catalysts, adhesives, toll processed goods, and other specialty materials. You will deliver shrewd insights based on a deep understanding of upstream manufacturing processes, market trends, and Form's requirements, ensuring delivery of quality materials that meet Form's bold performance, cost, and timeline requirements.

The successful candidate will rely on their combination of business acumen, technical depth, innate curiosity, and experience in battery chemicals categories to bring strategic approaches and oversight to the sourcing of these critical raw material components, while developing and maintaining positive, productive relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners alike. What you'll do:
  • Own the battery chemicals and raw materials category at Form (e.g., bulk commodity chemicals, specialty carbons and catalysts, adhesives, toll processed goods, and other specialty materials), including commercial relationships and contracts within our supply base and value chain

  • Collaborate closely with Form's Leadership, Supply Chain, R&D, Engineering and Strategic Supply teams to define and drive execution of Form's battery chemicals sourcing strategy

  • Negotiate and deliver favorable commercial terms for battery chemical components & manufacturing that optimize costs, lead times, and risk to Form by managing the end-to-end sourcing process from supplier development through qualification, negotiation, and contracting

  • Secure best-in-class pricing for Form's battery chemicals and raw materials through detailed price analysis and negotiations, continual cost reductions, cost avoidance, and logistics optimization

  • Monitor current category market conditions, evaluating capacities and competitive landscapes, technology roadmaps and supply/demand challenges & opportunities

  • Ensure Form is working with best-in-class suppliers and mitigating risks by rigorously analyzing component and manufacturing costs, performing risk analyses, forecasting industry trends, and leveraging your own expertise in chemicals markets and production processes

What you'll bring:
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, or similar discipline

  • Deep category experience (5+ years) in chemicals and/or battery raw materials sourcing, market/pricing mechanics, and manufacturing processes in a fast-paced, highly fluid environment

  • Strong analytical skills, with a demonstrated ability to generate bottom-up "should-cost" models based on an understanding of manufacturing processes; comfortable with spreadsheets

  • Solid understanding of commercial terms, contract structures, and IP concepts

  • Fact-based, detail-oriented, data-driven decision making; ability to thrive in the face of ambiguity

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills; an optimistic, high-energy "people person" with a strong desire to build collaborative relationships and make things happen

  • Ability to work both independently and collaborate cross-functionally on multiple tasks and projects; a team-player

  • Ability to work in the US and travel globally as necessary

Compensation Range: $108K - $138K
