Position Highlights | The Art and Visual Culture Education Program (AVCE), housed within the School of Art, University of Arizona, invites candidates for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning in August 2024. We seek candidates with strengths in community-based art education and an ability to contribute to the Program's areas of study in art teacher education and museum education. The ideal candidate's research and teaching will support the Program's mission to advance knowledge of social justice, multiculturalism, and global issues in AVCE theory, research methods, and pedagogy. Inclusive excellence in teaching is expected. The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to foster a responsive and pluralistic learning environment and a sense of belonging for our students through teaching, mentorship, and recruitment. Undergraduate students pursue a degree focus in Teaching Certification or Community and Museums. Our doctoral program encourages interdisciplinary themes built around art and visual culture education. Faculty members work together with music educators on cross-disciplinary arts education. There is an active NAEA student chapter, and graduate students host the annual Emerging Conversations Symposium. The School of Art is part of the Arizona Arts division, which serves as a gateway to visual and performing arts experiences on the University of Arizona campus.
