The Production Planner is responsible for creating and maintaining production schedules for manufactured products and components through delivery to the distribution center. Executes activities per the constrained master schedule to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet shipping dates according to sales forecasts or customer orders.

What will you be doing?

  • Prepares schedules and ensures timely completion of production orders for manufacturing processes.
  • Identifies raw material and component requirements for production from engineering and production spec. Assures "clear to start" (all material available) readiness for all production order generation.
  • Prepares production planning reports as required.
  • Reviews support documents for scheduling such as route sheets, enters all requirements into the planning system or process as required.
  • Monitors accuracy of planning modules or production planning system with current lead times, and related information.
  • Establishes effective communication with various groups such as supervisors, master schedulers, plant production departments, and/or management as required. Monitors production orders from start to finish to ensure the on time delivery of products.
  • Performs Rough Cut Capacity Planning (RCCP) for resources, shifts, equipment and shutdowns. Reviews capacity loads and identifies possible manufacturing constraints. Monitors and anticipates production issues due to capacity and new product launches.
  • Supports plant or manufacturing unit supply S&OPs as required.
  • Ensures resources required for production.
  • Ensures accuracy of net requirement signals for the timely ordering and delivery of components to support manufacturing activities.
  • Participates in new product launch meetings and assists in developing new product forecasts and production schedules. Executes planning activities during phase-in phase-out programs.
  • Represent department in cross-functional project meetings, and executive meetings as requested.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve inventory investment through inventory entitlement model for applicable production line.
  • Provide asset specific input to the end to end supply chain processes and ensure planning master data (safety stock, lead times, etc.) in the ERP system are accurate and up to date.
  • Identify software procedural improvements to the Operations process to eliminate waste.

What will you need to be successful?

Education: 4-year university bachelor's degree or equivalent

  • Supply chain certification (APICS/ IBF) desirable
  • Process Excellence certification desirable

Experience:

  • 2+ years related experience
  • Experience with and a demonstrable knowledge of ERP & advanced planning systems - specifically SAP
  • Production planning or manufacturing experience in a medical, pharmaceutical or consumer industry
  • Familiarity with relevant legislation (e.g. GMP, ISO, UDI, MDR requirements) is desirable
