Position Summary

Allan Hancock College is accepting applications for a Head Women's Volleyball Coach. This is a part-time, faculty position in the college's Kinesiology, Recreation, and Athletic Department reporting to the Associate Dean/Athletic director.

The incumbent develops and coordinates the intercollegiate women's volleyball program; trains and coaches the team in preparation for intercollegiate competition; keeps and maintains records and equipment as required; operates within the scope of campus and governing body athletic policies without close supervision; recruits perspective student-athletes and implements programming to sustain enrollment, persistence, and transfer; oversees the preparation of a competitive women's basketball schedule. This position requires day, evening, or weekends.

The anticipated start date is March 15, 2024.

Essential Functions and Qualifications

Along with the part-time instruction requirements, the Head Coach is responsible for, but not limited to, the development, leadership and administration of the women's basketball program. This includes recruiting qualified student-athletes for a competitive team within the Western State Conference, practice organization and supervision, staff hiring/development, game scheduling, budget oversight, student-athlete development, academic monitoring, coordinating fundraising and community service events, and positive alumnae relations.

The Head Coach is responsible for compliance with the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA), Conference and Allan Hancock College rules and regulations. The Interim Head Coach along with his/her assistant(s) may be required, upon a successful Registry of Motor Vehicles background check, to drive passenger vans for team travel. Participation is required in Allan Hancock College Athletic Department sponsored events such as the Final Fore Golf Tournament and other fundraising events.

Minimum Qualifications

The position requires the employee to serve as a part-time instructor in coaching at the California Community College level, for which the minimum academic qualification includes any bachelor's degree and two years of professional experience, or any associate degree and six years of professional experience. Additional opportunities to teach in the discipline of Kinesiology may be available.

A master's degree in the discipline or the equivalent is required to teach any instructional load not attached to the intercollegiate volleyball classes.

Part-time faculty load may not exceed a .67.

Lecture Rate: $57.72 to $77.18 per hour depending upon education and experience

Lab Rate: $50.28 to $67.20 per hour depending upon education and experience

Activity Rate: $37.13 to $50.62 per hour depending upon education and experience
