Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Staff unarmed security posts and provide security for the personnel and property of, and visitors to, assigned US Government Property.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Protect personnel and property in a professional manner
  • Meet and deal tactfully and politely with general public and visitors
  • Effectively and efficiently screen and process visitors
  • Identify, report, delay or detain persons who violate rules and regulations
  • Complete all reports and paperwork as required
  • Provide first aid, CPR and assist during emergencies as necessary
  • Comply with NGA General Orders and Security Post Orders documents;
  • Be fully familiar with building layout, floor plans, manual fire alarm locations, fire extinguisher locations, Automated External Defibrillator (AED) locations, emergency routes, and evacuation assembly points;
  • Report to assigned post at the designated time;
  • Remain on post until properly relived and pass all information relevant to the post to the relieving Security Officer;
  • Must be able to wear protective body armor as a part of the duty uniform
  • Ensure safety requirements compliance and safe work practices
  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • US Citizen with a valid social security card
  • Must possess a minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent
  • Must possess one of the following experience or education criteria below:
    • Minimum of two (2) years unarmed security experience within the past five years
    • Three (3) years of service in the Military or National Guard
    • Successfully completed a state certified law enforcement education and training program or police officer's standard training course
  • Must meet all medical and physical standards as outlined in the contract
  • Meet background screening and U.S. Government suitability requirements
  • Currently hold a valid DC Special Police Officer license or DC Security Officer license
  • Strong command of the English language

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Day Shift, Weekday and Weekend availability required
  • Frequent and prolonged walking, standing, sitting, and stooping
  • Work is performed inside the property and unpredictable crisis situations.
  • Shift work required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to remain standing on post up to four (4) consecutive hours without eating, drinking, or relieving bladder/bowels.
  • Must meet all physical and psychological standards as required by the contract
  • Travel may be required
