Kennedy Jenks is seeking an experienced and resourceful Resident Engineer/Construction Manager in California to provide oversight and construction management activities on major water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This position is responsible for preparing work according to company standards and established deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review RFIs and submittals for compliance with the specifications.
  • Prepare daily reports, track schedule compliance, manage material testing and special inspection activities, interface with the public, regulatory, and permitting agencies including compliance with SWPPP.
  • Supervise Inspectors.
  • Review as-built contractor drawings.
  • Manage startup activities and commissioning.
  • Review technical plans and specification compliance with the owner and contractor.
  • Review and recommend approval of monthly pay application performance for work completed.
  • Support business development, attending pre-proposal meetings and interviews.
  • Review and manage the contractor's schedule, providing monthly reviews and recommendations to the owner.
  • Support the PM with various technical activities and reviews.
  • Understand CM management activities, risks and importance of documentation.
  • Understand many contract laws associated with construction management including the Public Contract Code.
  • Manage construction budget, including review and recommendation for approval of the contractors' monthly pay application and contract change orders.
  • Understand overall project construction budget. Review and approve daily extra work tags, and understand their impact on contract project budget.
  • Model successful behaviors and activities consistent with good CM practices. Lead the project construction team for successful completion of the project.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering or a related engineering discipline from an accredited four-year college or university
  • At least five years of relevant experience
  • California Professional Engineer (PE) or Certified Construction Manager CCM designation is required
  • Working knowledge of standard Division I specifications and their application
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products and Engineering and Inspection related software.
  • Ability to interact professionally both internally and externally at all levels of an organization. Strong writing, editing, and research skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record

Salary range for this position is anticipated to be $90,000 to $160,000, and may vary based upon education, experience, qualifications, licensure/certifications and geographic location.
