Position Statement

Will be responsible for the related food services and supervision of all custodial services necessary to maintain facilities in a hygienic, safe, and representable condition of the kitchen area. This employee will not be expected to assist in a classroom but may be asked to help with children if an emergency occurs.

Essential Functions

These shall include, but not limited to the following, and may be changed or expanded by the director.

  • The kitchen cook must be experience, possess a knowledge of basic principles of good nutrition, and have demonstrated ability to plan for an economy planning.
  • Prepare a serve balanced meals and snack daily based on a weekly menu. Have a personal cleanliness habit, should be sincerely interested in working with young children and should display a willingness to work closely with administrator and other staff.
  • Responsible for maintaining kitchen area clean and organized daily.
  • The Kitchen cook must perform all operations relating to the kitchen and be clean and organized.
  • Formulate a weekly calendar for meals and snacks.
  • Supervising the cleaning operations to the kitchen and storerooms
  • Implement safety guidelines in the kitchen.
  • Regular attendance is necessary for the smooth operation of a childcare center and after school. Illness should be reported by telephone before the time is scheduled to go on duty.
  • A sound knowledge of safety and health guidelines.
  • Good management skills
  • Good organization skills
  • Kitchen cook must prepare food within a short time.
  • Basic accounting skills to keep track of food portions.
  • Good communication with administrator and teachers.
  • Conduct meals for all children in the center Childcare and Afterschool program.

Experience
Must possess a knowledge of basic principles of good nutrition and have demonstrated ability to plan for an economy planning. Basic accounting skills to keep track of food portions. Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications. (required)
