Brown and Caldwell has an exciting opportunity for a senior level Hydrogeologist to join our Private Sector Business Unit. This is a great opportunity to support an established team of talented earth scientists and engineers. You will work on projects that involve both clean water and contaminated water issues. You will help our clients investigate and remediate sites, permit new sites, and stay in compliance with operating sites.

Detailed Description:

  • Serve as Senior Hydrogeologist and technical lead for environmental projects and groundwater management projects.
  • Provide technical leadership and support on a variety of environmental and groundwater management projects.
  • Perform senior field oversight of junior staff, on occasion, for staff development and mentorship is expected.
  • Office work will include technical report writing, Senior technical review/QC/analysis of field and laboratory data, reviewing boring logs and geologic cross sections prepared by junior geologist, and the review of geologic maps and other technical documents.
  • Develop and implement routine and complex scopes of work on diverse projects for municipal and private sector clients.
  • Connect with mining and private sector clients (both current and emerging) to support business development and growth.
  • Manage tasks and assignments to meet deadlines and budgets.
  • Communicate findings and problems to senior staff and make recommendations, as appropriate.
  • Work independently and lead multi-discipline teams to meet project objectives.
  • Devise and/or oversee field programs.
  • Apply knowledge of geology and hydrogeology to aid development and management of solutions to address to solve groundwater management concerns and develop water management plans.
  • Apply knowledge of geology and hydrogeology to aid development and management of solutions to address to address subsurface contamination.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS Degree in hydrogeology, geology, engineering, or environmental science (or related field) with 10+ years of experience in hydrogeological investigations.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification is required.
  • Applicable candidates should have a PG license (or be able to attain soon after hiring) in one of the following states: Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, Nevada, Arizona or California.
  • Strong verbal and written (technical writing) communication skills required.
  • Strong, all-round academic knowledge and understanding of hydrogeology in complex environments with a background in geology.
  • QA/QC skills.
  • Possess a positive, can-do attitude, be flexible and self-motivated, and have an attention to detail.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record.
  • Ability to travel to meet with clients and/or supervise field work periodically for short durations.
    • Ability to work for short periods of time in extreme temperatures including heat and cold.
    • Ability to wear required safety equipment at sites including hard hats, steel toed boots (or other approved toe protection), etc.
    • Ability to stand for several hours observing and documenting critical construction operations (i.e. pouring concrete).
    • Ability to operate a BC Pickup Truck to commute to jobsites and to access work areas on site.
    • Remain alert and vigilant while working around construction equipment and be able to walk swiftly for a short distance to clear an area where a potential hazard is identified.
    • Ability to climb stairs (2-3 flights) or ladders (up to 24 foot typically) to access structures for visual inspection.
    • Ability to lift objects on job sites less than 30 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS Degree in hydrogeology, geology, engineering, or environmental science with 20+ years of experience in hydrogeological investigations.
  • PG license in Idaho or Nevada.
  • 24-hour MSHA certification is preferred.
  • Experience in various remediation solutions (e.g., excavation, SVE, ISCO, bioremediation enhancements, thermal, air-sparging, etc.) a plus.
  • Experience with a variety of groundwater management (planning, modeling, well siting, construction oversight, logging, aquifer storage and recovery (ASR) studies, Groundwater Sustainability Plan (GSP) development, implementation, annual reporting, and compliance) a plus.
  • Experience with groundwater management in the mining sector related to permitting or reclamation.
  • Experience with business development around environmental and groundwater management work including sales and client interactions a plus.
  • Experience in the consulting field preferred.
  • Experience with database software (Microsoft Access, Equis, etc.) a plus.
  • Strong project management skills a plus.

Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee's primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Location A: $103,000 - $141,000

Location B: $114,000 - $155,000

Location C: $124,000 - $169,000
