Brown and Caldwell, a national environmental engineering firm, has an exciting opportunity for a mid-level project engineer to join our San Diego office to provide engineering and operation support for projects associated with various programs in the area. We are seeking a motivated, achievement-oriented individual who can accept increasing levels of design and operations support and management responsibilities and help us fulfill our commitment to deliver client success on each and every project we undertake.

You will work with and be mentored by nationally recognized, senior technical and project management staff. The ideal candidate should have strong verbal and written communication skills, be highly organized and capable of working in a diverse team environment and handling multiple tasks with competing priorities.

Detailed Description:

  • Perform engineering work in various engineering fields with an emphasis on wastewater and water treatment including design, commissioning, piloting and operations support and design services during construction.
  • Analyze plant operating data to assess process condition and performance and provide recommendations for process optimization.
  • Commissioning support including troubleshooting of operational equipment and instrumentation
  • Lead engineering evaluations, execute design calculations, and prepare reports, plans, and specifications with support of senior-level engineering staff.
  • Lead administrative and project management related tasks for various engineering design projects, including management of subconsultants
  • Interface directly with Clients, operators and third-party designers and construction managers, present engineering findings
  • Support environmental studies, permitting and alternative analyses
  • Perform field activities such as site investigations, and condition assessments.
  • Data collection, manipulation, analysis, and documentation
  • Supervise, delegate and manage the work of technical staff and junior engineers
  • Assist with business development pursuits writing technical proposals and assisting with budgeting. Lead project pursuits of small and moderate size

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • BS Degree in Engineering (Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical) required
  • MS degree in (Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical) Engineering preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in the design and/or design services during construction of water/wastewater treatment plants and conveyance systems. Experience with construction administration and project management experience of designed systems is preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) in California (Civil or Mechanical), or ability to obtain it within 6 months of hire
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills, organizational skills, and the ability to work well both independently and in team environment
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook).
  • Autodesk AutoCAD and Revit/Navisworks skills preferred
  • ArcMap/GIS skills preferred
  • Valid driver's license, good driving record, and willingness to travel and conduct field work
  • Active participation in local professional organizations preferred

Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee's primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Location B: $103,000- $141,000
