Job Summary

The Preclinical Therapeutics Core is recruiting a new animal technician to meet the demand for in vivo studies. In addition to animal works, the technician will work closely with Preclinical Therapeutics (PTC) Lab Manager to plan and organize lab operations and weekly schedule. They will also assist the PTC Lab Manager in managing studies and communicating with clients.

Department Description

The UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center (HDFCCC) is one of only two cancer centers in the Bay Area to receive the prestigious designation of "comprehensive" from the National Cancer Institute (NCI).
The HDFCCC integrates the work of researchers and clinicians dedicated to four fundamental pursuits: laboratory research into the causes of cancer progression; clinical research to translate new knowledge into viable treatments; compassionate, state-of-the-art patient care; and population research that can lead to improvements in prevention, early detection, and quality-of-life for those living with cancer. The twin pillars of precision medicine and precision population health guide research and treatment at HDFCCC.

Required Qualifications

• BA/BS with a degree in a related science and two or more years of recent, directly related work experience, utilizing the techniques or methods required by the position and demonstrating technical expertise in these areas; and/or equivalent experience/training.
• They will be self-motivated, dedicated and adaptable to change.
• They will be willing to be trained in surgical procedures and imaging techniques.
• They must have excellent communication skills and have the ability to work at high standard with a care to detail.
• They must be able to work well within a team, to multitask and prioritize, and be willing to work flexible hours including occasional weekends/holidays based on rotation.
• The candidate must have good computer skills and familiarity with MS Office applications.
