Position Summary

TCW has begun an exciting, multi-year technology modernization initiative. We are seeking a highly skilled and technically proficient Data Architect to drive design requirements and the technical implementation of long-term data projects. In this role, you will design, develop, and implement data solutions for our organization using a core data stack including Azure, Snowflake, dbt, Airflow, and SQL Server. If you have a strong data engineering background and experience in implementing end-to-end data lifecycle solutions, you could be the key player we need to organize project deliverables and lead teams towards efficient and effective execution.

Essential Duties
    Design and develop scalable, high-performing, reusable, and extendable data solutions using Snowflake, dbt, Airflow, and SQL Server to meet business requirements.
  • Create enterprise level data models and architecture patterns that consider functionality, cose, performance, scalability, reusability, security, and extensibility.
  • Analyze requirements, effect solution design, drive development, and oversee production deployment in large enterprise setting.
  • Provide technical leadership on the implementation, support, and management of enterprise data, simplifying data access, eliminating redundancies, and integrating disparate data structures into coherent enterprise data models.
  • Identify strategic data/workflow gaps and advocate for new technologies and techniques.
  • Lead and manage a Scrum team, organizing and prioritizing project deliverables, assigning tasks, and monitoring progress.
  • Architect and implement data governance and security measures to ensure data integrity and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify data-driven opportunities and provide strategic recommendations.
  • Perform data analysis, profiling, and validation to ensure accuracy and quality of data.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in data architecture, data engineering, and data management.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, statistics, engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Data Engineer, Developer, or similar role
  • Strong technical proficiency in Snowflake, dbt, Airflow, SQL, and other relevant data tools and technologies
  • Proficiency in relational and dimensional modeling techniques and experience working with finance professionals in a time-sensitive environment
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously, with experience leading and managing Scrum teams following Agile methodologies
  • Solid understanding of fixed income and asset management principles and processes, including experience designing data solutions for a financial organization across various asset classes
  • Mastery of both legacy and modern tools/platforms, such as SSIS, SSRS, and SQL Server

  • Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders, technical teams, and business users at all levels within the organization
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical staff
  • Self-starter and team player with the ability to manage complex challenges
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with large-scale data solutions and migration projects; BlackRock Aladdin experience is highly desirable
  • Data warehouse implementation experience for a buy-side investment firm
  • Experience integrating external data providers

Estimated Compensation:

Base Salary: For CA & NY based positions, the base salary range is $200k to $230k. This represents base salary range only.

Other Compensation: In addition to the base salary, this position will be eligible to be considered for an annual discretionary bonus.
