About This Position

Development of business processes, policies and procedures for accounting and reporting cash activities in a high-volume cash movement environment. Management of a team of employees performing related duties. Development of business processes, policies, and procedures for processing lockbox payments. Managed a team of employees responsible for processing lockbox deposits. Ensuring direct reports adhere to money services business and anti-money laundering regulations issued by federal and state regulators.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities

  • Develop effective business processes, policies and procedures needed to ensure timely and accurate accounting for a large volume of cash, credit card and money order deposits for a money services business.
  • Cash reconciliations and related general ledger accounting.
  • Manage compliance of money services business and anti-money laundering regulations for direct reports.
  • Manage a team of employees who perform daily cash reconciliation for cash in deposit kiosks, credit card deposits and check or money order deposits.
  • Analyze and account for a large volume of cash removed from deposit kiosks by armored car companies until cash is deposited into company bank accounts.
  • Preparation of monthly bank account reconciliations related to high volume cash business.
  • General ledger accounting including review and preparation of journal entries.
  • Tracking of unreconciled cash.
  • Filing and monitoring of claims with armored car companies for missing or unlocated cash.
  • Research and verify credit card transactions deposit batches.
  • Identify gaps in current systems/reports and help IT determine how to correct or enhance them.
  • Supervise processes and procedures to account for lockbox deposits.
  • Supervise or prepare and track various lockbox deposit methods accepted for agency customers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need

  • Recent experience working for a money services business, bank, or other financial institution involved in the reconciliation of large amounts of cash with several bank accounts.
  • Public accounting experience of two to three years working with complicated bank account reconciliation processes.
  • 4-year degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 2+ years' experience in a high-volume cash business.
  • Advanced Microsoft skills: B/I cube reporting experience a plus.
  • Intermediate Excel skill. Pivot tables, VLookup, if statements, etc.
  • Proficient in Microsoft, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated success in researching and resolving exceptions.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Solid organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Manage team of employees who are responsible to ensure tracking cash on a daily basis. Manage team that processing money orders and check deposits. Production tracking by employee.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. General math. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
