Job Description

Visa is seeking a diligent and experienced Accounting Manager to oversee our accounting operations in the North America region. Reporting directly to the Senior Director of North America Controllership, this role is critical in supporting Visa's financial stability and growth in the region.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead the accounting team responsible for the North America region, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Oversee general ledger activities, including equity investments, litigation provisions, and intercompany transactions.
  • Conduct flux analysis to identify and explain variances and trends in financial data.
  • Review and approve complex journal entries and reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory standards and laws. Coordinate and manage internal and external audits, ensuring all necessary documentation is prepared and provided.
  • Develop and implement effective accounting policies and processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Emerging contract review - responsible for proper U.S. GAAP compliance. Includes review of emerging product agreements for proper accounting treatment and application of revenue recognition principles.
  • Lead the team to ensure process enhancements and updates to accounting operating procedures.
  • Train the team on various accounting topics and research for best practices. Guide the team for any technical accounting research.
  • Provide accounting guidance to support business decision making.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 5 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD


Preferred Qualifications

  • 6 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or 4 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or similar qualification preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting, with at least 4 years in a managerial role, peferably in a publicly-traded company and/or with a public accounting firm.
  • Proven experience in managing accounting for investments, litigation provisions, and intercompany transactions.
  • Demonstrated ability in flux analysis and review of journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Experience in leading process enhancements and updating accounting operating procedures.
  • Experience in training teams on various accounting topics and guiding technical accounting research.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance and audit procedures.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 118,500.00 to 154,000.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
