*This is a hybrid role based out of our HQ in Carlsbad, CA. In-office expectation is 3 days a week*.

HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

With a deep understanding ofprAna'sbrand, The Technical Designer is responsible for executing the fit intentions of apparel categories that may include knit/woven fabrications of various categories for prAna's men's and women's divisions. Position will help maintain key deadlines for their categories to achieve a product delivered on-time with the best quality. This role will work in various categories to position for growth and a well-rounded knowledge base, while owning graphic and knit styles.

The position tracks and maintains key deadlines for assigned categories to achieve on-time, highest quality deliverables for the department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Execution and ownership of the intended fit and ensure fit consistency across all assigned styles.

  • Partner with Product Creation Team to achieve brand relevant, customer focus, high quality products.

  • Conduct fit meetings; take notes; prepare or follow up with research on details and specifications regarding fit requirements and information provided by the factory.

  • Track status of fit samples.

  • Coordinate with Product Development to utilize 3-dimensional fitting tool to digitally fit garment prior to sampling.

  • Contribute to maintaining consistency in fit, quality, construction, and grade rules across all assigned categories.

  • Review and assess sewing, construction, finishing standards and grade rule specifications.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on product and fit adjustments, corrections, and final grading.

  • Make pattern corrections to achieve better fit.

  • Handle direct communication with vendors and Product Development regarding fit, construction and sewing changes, final grading when style is approved prior to Production.

  • Review and comprehend technical sketches in tech pack hand off meeting with Design.

  • Work on pattern correction or draping to create initial proto sample.

  • Create POM (point of measurement) and initial measurement chart after tech pack hand off.

  • Maintain accurate WIP chart on all style statuses from proto stage through to production approval.

  • Review development calendar and monitor key deadlines (e.g., sales samples and final approval); communicate timelines to team to facilitate ability to meet deadlines.

YOU ARE

  • A strong technical designer with knowledge of sewing, garment construction, and machinery of stitching.

  • An outdoor, active, climbing, yoga, swim, surf or other customer driven enthusiast.

  • Able to work autonomously and cross-functionally with ease.

  • Agile and can work in a fast paced environment adhering to plans and adapting quickly to change.

YOU HAVE

  • Degree in Patternmaking, Fashion Design or Product Development recommended.

  • 4-6 years of experience in technical design, patternmaking, product development, design or production.

  • Strong technical knowledge of sewing, construction, and stitching machinery as it relates to product.

  • Basic pattern making skills, ability to modify patterns to achieve the fit intention.

  • Experience in grading ability to understand grade rules on Women's categories (top/dress/bottoms/cover up/jacket) and understand grade rules.

  • Experience fitting on live model.

  • Knowledge of garment construction, fabric, and trims.

  • Strong technical knowledge of Women's and Men's lifestyle with regards to sewing, garment construction, and stitching.

  • Experience with Women's and Men's categorylifestyle in Woven or Knitwear (Top/ Bottom/ Dress/ Skirt/ Sweater).

  • Experience leading fit sessions while evaluating fit. Then making pattern corrections to achieve the intended fit.

  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, Power Point).

  • Adobe Illustrator, Full Circle and Browzwear experience a plus.

  • Familiarity with correcting a paper pattern by hand is a plus.

  • Experience working with overseas factories a plus.

  • Must be able to travel internationally at least once or twice per year when needed.

Salary Range: $64,800 - $108,400*Pay decisions are determined by multiple factors, including what the market is paying, a candidate's capabilities and skills, years of experience, and internal equity.
