Pay Range Information
Chapman University is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this position. This range takes into account a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Salary offers are determined based on the final candidate's qualifications and experience, as well as internal equity and other internal factors. The anticipated pay range is not a promise of a particular wage.
Position Summary Information

Job Description Summary
Set up selected areas for special events, classes, dinners, etc. and assist other departments with these events. Perform "moves" of personnel and equipment from one location to another. Assist with deliveries and distribution of materials. Other duties as assigned
Responsibilities
Set up for special events:
  • Dinners and luncheons, special forums and meetings, classes, parties, concerts, etc.
  • Inspect and reorganize all campus classrooms before Monday morning classes throughout the school year.
  • Set up for bigger special events including graduation, Founders' Day, Scholars' Day, Orientation, Discover Chapman, American Celebration, etc.
  • Perform residence hall turnovers at the beginning and end of each school year.
  • Organize, set up and reconfigure each residence room/apartment/house according to Residence Life directives.
Perform office moves:
  • Inter school and interdepartmental moves of furniture, books, boxes, cubicle partitions, files, etc. Removal and disposition of trash items, storage items and bulk furniture items.
  • Assist in unloading trucks including storing and delivery of the items.
  • Assist other trades as requested or situation requires.
  • Assist with rain leak emergencies including roof patching, sand bag filling and placement, etc.
  • Other duties to be assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Being physically fit and being able to lift and carry heavy weight
  • A high school diploma with proven ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to prioritize work orders to ensure timely completion of tasks with the least amount of negative impact on other departments. Ability to read room set up plans.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations.
  • Ability to demonstrate tact and diplomacy when interacting with diverse constituents.
  • Knowledge of safe driving practices as defined by the California DMV Ability to adhere to safe working practices as defined by industry and regulatory standards.
  • Knowledge of hand tools to assemble/disassemble furniture.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English in order to communicate with all levels of campus community and business contacts.
  • Ability to work in a team atmosphere.

Special Instructions to Applicants
This position will require an alternative work schedule as follows: Tuesday through Saturday 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Background check clearance required before employment. Valid California driver's license, clear, unrestricted. DMV record; a DMV report will be required prior to and periodically during employment. Alternate/extended shifts periodically required for events support and will include regular weekend shift of one or both days.
