Spring Lake Village

The Server I is responsible for serving residents and guests in the main dining room, resident apartments, private dining rooms, and in the personal care dining room. Serves residents in private parties, setting up and serving catered parties, cleaning up the dining room, and any other meal service rooms as needed. Assigns proper charges to residents for guest meals, wine served, or any other miscellaneous charges not included in the monthly fees. It is required that this position be in full compliance with HIPAA.

Responsibilities:

  • Serves food and beverages to residents and guests in the dining room, in the personal care dining room, resident apartments, private dining rooms, and other areas where food is served.
  • Provides professional and courteous service using correct service techniques.
  • Takes resident and guest food orders and carries food to table using waiter trays.
  • Sets up and serves catered parties and coffee breaks as assigned. Breaks down and cleans up after catered parties.
  • Serves residents and their guests in the Dining Room, and is responsible for properly charging each account for food and beverages served.
  • Sets up, serves and takes down all breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets.
  • Considers placement of foods to create an attractive display that is convenient for residents.
  • Maintains the cleanliness of the areas, and assures dish ware and/or utensils are supplied as needed.
  • Performs side duties as assigned, including preparing the dining room for service and maintaining the cleanliness of the dining room, the wait stations, tea room, and private rooms after catered events, and related kitchen areas.
  • Attends and participates in menu meetings and monthly in-service meetings as scheduled.
  • Employee must be able to work well under pressure; meeting multiple and sometimes competing deadlines. Employee must at all times demonstrate cooperative behavior with staff, colleagues, and supervisors.
  • Assists Host/Hostess with opening duties as assigned.
  • Answers phone calls in the dining room in the absence of the Host/Hostess, using proper language as instructed.
  • Takes messages and forwards to the appropriate people.
  • Participates in Facility Emergency Plan training and fire drills; and if an emergency or disaster occurs, immediately assumes the pre-assigned emergency duties.
  • Performs other duties or responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Director of Dining Services, Executive Chef and the Director of Dinning Services.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • English proficiency.
  • Experience or aptitude for working with senior citizens preferred.
  • Must be customer-oriented and possess good communication skills.
  • Able to follow both written and verbal instructions and relate to older people.
  • Able to manage several tasks at one time efficiently and temperately.
  • Able to form cooperative, effective, productive working relationships.
  • Able to learn new tasks as the department grows and develops.
