The Opportunity:

At Kandji, we are expanding our footprint in the EDR domain and are looking for a passionate Junior Detection Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role is a gateway to substantially impacting our journey to crafting an industry-leading security product. You will have the unique opportunity to contribute to developing cutting-edge solutions that address modern security challenges. You will play a crucial role in enhancing our security offerings by collaborating closely with product managers, engineering teams, solutions architects, and threat researchers. This position is perfect for individuals eager to learn, grow, and shape the future of cybersecurity solutions.
How you will make a difference day to day:
  • Assist in analyzing and reverse engineering malware to safeguard our customers' Apple devices.
  • Support the development and optimization of Kandji's detection strategies to ensure high-quality detections for our clients.
  • Collaborate with the threat intelligence team to improve alert fidelity, minimize false positives, and provide valuable insights to Researchers.
  • Participate in the entire lifecycle of detection engineering, including Framework Mapping (MITRE, CIS, etc.), Detection Creation, and Detection Effectiveness (Tuning, Validation, etc.).
  • Engage in continuous learning activities to better understand the evolving threat landscape and contribute to the enhancement of our detection capabilities.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Basic understanding of the modern threat landscape, including exploits, primitives, and trends.
  • Introductory experience in Signature Development and familiarity with security frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a knack for clear and effective collaboration.
  • Ability to adapt, learn, and contribute in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with Git, Jira, Confluence, or similar tool stacks.
  • Required to work on-site 3 days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday). Managers may require additional on-site days.
Nice-to-Haves
  • Cybersecurity Experience, with exposure to malware research and malware analysis.
  • Experience as a SOC Analyst or in a cybersecurity operations role.
  • Familiarity with malicious binary, document, and script analysis.
  • Interest in machine learning applications in cybersecurity.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team, showing leadership and mentoring potential.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an emphasis on facilitation, continuous improvement, and empathy.
