Overview

Our long-term client relationship with NASA has led to a need for a Systems and Integration Engineer (ISS) on the Human Space Flight Technical Integration (HSFTIC) contract at Johnson Space Center (Houston, TX).

Our primary government work is with NASA and is conducted at the Johnson Space Center (JSC) in Houston, TX and the Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) in Huntsville, AL. Responsibilities

The Systems and Integration Engineer (ISS) will:

    Provide requirements and verification expertise in the resolution of International Space Station (ISS) systems engineering & integration issues.
  • Resolve technical payload, payload facility, and vehicle system integration issues and actions.
  • Coordinate with technical system managers, integration personnel, and payload/payload facility personnel to resolve issues.
  • Perform cold stowage integration, providing cold stowage issues, schedule, and cost insight between the cold stowage group and the ISS Vehicle Office (OB) management.
  • Perform assessment of critical resource requests and make recommendations to the ISS Program.
  • Assess payload requests in the Payload Integration Agreements (PIA) and coordinate requests for NASA-managed resources.
  • Integrate certification and readiness inputs for certification of flight readiness (CoFR) reviews.
  • Complete CoFR checklists and generate inputs for stage operations readiness (SORR) reviews.
  • Lead resolution of issues and actions that are time critical and have high risks to the ISS Program and to payload integration & operations.
  • Review and provide recommended dispositions.
  • Identify areas for process improvement to better integrate payload facilities, technology demonstrations, and commercial elements within NASA's payload integration flow.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

  • BS Degree in Engineering from an accredited engineering school, plus three (3) years of Engineering experience.

- OR -

  • BS Degree in Engineering from an accredited engineering school, plus five (5) years of Engineering experience.

- OR -

  • BS Degree in Engineering from an accredited engineering school, plus ten (10) years of Engineering experience.

- OR -

  • BS Degree in Engineering from an accredited engineering school, plus fifteen (15) years of Engineering experience.
  • Project management or other leadership experience.
  • Knowledge of Space Exploration programs (Gateway, ISS, Orion, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of systems engineering practices associated with the definition, design, development, implementation, testing, and integration of complex systems.
  • Excellent communication skills (in both written and verbal), integration, coordination, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team and independently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint).

Preferences:

  • Experience in spacecraft payload or stowage integration or spacecraft hardware processing.
  • Intimate knowledge of PIA, CoFR, SORR, and other ISS integration and flight readiness processes.
  • INCOSE Certified System Engineering Professional (CSEP).
  • Experience with PTC Windchill product lifecycle management (PLM) software and DOORS requirements management software.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.

  • Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical.
  • Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required.
  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.
  • Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
  • This position may require some commuting and traveling to other installations as needed.
