We are looking for our next Sr Scientist Engineer I, or Scientist II, Microbial Physiology and Fermentation for our Palo Alto, CA location.

Job Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Process, project, product development leadership
  • Develop fermentation processes for biomolecules produced by microbial cultures, including both bacterial and fungal systems
  • Participate in strain improvement efforts through different methodologies such as implementing evolution, screens, small scale assays.
  • Active participant in the execution of scale-up/scale-down methodology for fermentation processes, including design and analysis of experiments
  • Collaborate with process technicians, molecular biologists and microbiologists, downstream recovery engineers as well as other members of IFF's Research and Global Supply organizations
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, protocols and other technical and regulatory documentation

Requirements for Senior Scientist I:

  • Ph.D degree in Biosciences and Engineering disciplines
  • 2 years industrial experience, including industrial & academic internships
  • Strong microbial physiology skills as demonstrated by publications in peer reviewed journals
  • Demonstration of exceptional capabilities in educational pursuits and associated work/study programs
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self starter with good organizational skills and leadership potential
  • Strong team player
  • Some travel required

Requirements for Scientist II:

  • Ph.D degree in Biosciences and Engineering disciplines
  • 2 years industrial experience, including industrial & academic internships
  • Master with 11 yearsindustry experience
  • Project management experience desirable

Compensation for Sr. Scientist I ($117,000- 131,000) is based on a variety of factors including but not limited to work experience, skills, certifications, and location.

Compensation for Scientist II ($100,600 - 113,220) is based on a variety of factor including but not limited to work experience, skills, certifications and location.
