Job Summary

The Operations Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating field labor force to obtain optimum efficiency, performance, progress, and timely completion of project work. Responsibilities include oversight and coordination of other on-site activities.

Essential Functions
  • Actively support the Company's commitment to safety and its "Core Values."

  • Collaborates with the project's management team to develop and maintain construction project schedules, budgets, performance metrics, and status reports; may handle client submittals and approvals.
  • Directs and participates in maintaining and staffing activities of field personnel, including applicants, new hires, transfers/promotions and terminations.
  • Manages staff in efficiently utilizing materials, facilities and equipment; supervises staff performance and prepares summary project reports of site activities to stakeholders.
  • Coordinates and organizes all agency requirements to ensure compliance with building and safety codes and other relevant regulations. Tracks and maintains state and city certifications.
  • Ensures all company, safety and operating policies and practices are followed. Responds to questions and interprets policies, as required. Documents violations and recommends corrective action, as required.
  • Promotes a safe working environment for all employees. Assists with the implementation of safety training and orientation programs.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves operational problems and difficulties, as needed.
  • Analyzes procedures and equipment needs to implement most efficient means of handling workload.
  • Oversees the maintenance, repair, purchasing, and utilization of field construction equipment.
  • Budgets and administers construction overhead accounts.
  • Performs additional responsibilities, as directed.

Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of job-related experience in construction; 2+ years previous lead/supervisory experience.
  • Previous experience and excellent working knowledge of construction work, including technology, equipment, and methods.
  • Demonstrated skill in planning, organizing and staffing projects.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work with and communicate with customers, field craftsmen, engineers, and project managers.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical information such as codes specifications, drawings and reports, and prepare work plans for specific projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.

Physical/Special Requirements:

Occasional overtime and frequent travel between field locations may be required in this position. Work involves standing and walking for brief periods of time, but most duties are performed from a seated position. Work may include occasional pushing, pulling or carrying objects weighing up to 20 pounds, such as files, documents and computer printouts. Work normally requires finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination to operate a computer keyboard at moderate skill level.

The pay rate will depend on the successful candidate's qualifications and prior experience, specific skill set, geographic location, internal equity, and other factors influencing pay. As such, an actual salary may fall closer to one or the other end of this range, and in certain circumstances, may fall outside the listed hiring range.

Hiring range: $140,000 to $175,000 per year
