Your Role

The Payroll Operations team ensures that all employees receive accurate wages and adheres to Federal and State regulatory requirements. The Payroll Support, Intermediate, will report to the Payroll Manager, Payroll Operations. In this role you will be responsible for proactive collation with customers and internal business partners. Knowledge of Federal and State legal requirements pay regulations and overtime compliance. Your Work

In this role, you will:

  • Perform a wide variety of record keeping and payroll processing activities, including computing wage and overtime payments, calculating and recording payroll deductions, processing requests for paycheck advances, and processing terminations
  • Assist department managers and staff by answering payroll procedural questions, as well as researching and resolving payroll problems and discrepancies
  • Be responsible for answering phone and email inquiries for Payroll
  • Complete verification of wage documents and mailing
  • Managing all incoming payroll cases/calls requiring Payroll Support knowledge and understanding standard and complex payroll transactions
  • Assist with payroll escalations for missing pay
  • Overpayment calculations and collections
  • Garnishment processing
  • Leave of Absence process and calculations

Your Knowledge and Experience

  • Requires basic job knowledge of systems and procedures obtained through prior work experience or education
  • Requires minimum of 3 years of experience
  • May require vocational or technical education in addition to prior work experience
  • Requires proficiency in Outlook, Microsoft, and Excel
  • Requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to work out of the Oakland office once a week
  • Proficiency in Ultipro UKG, Oracle HCM, Service Now preferred

Pay Range:

The pay range for this role is: $ 21.53 to $ 30.16 for California.

Please note that this range represents the pay range for this and many other positions at Blue Shield that fall into this pay grade. Blue Shield salaries are based on a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, location (California, Bay area, or outside California), and current employee salaries for similar roles.
