Job Description

Engineer II

Rate of Pay: $22 - $26.52/hr

Summary:

Perform routine general maintenance and repair functions within approved guidelines and as directed. Colleague has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures in one of the following fields; mechanical, electrical plumbing, carpentry, commercial painting, or HVAC/R. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Preforms a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision. Typically repots to a supervisor or manager. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • All colleagues are obligated to support and uphold the Fairmont Grand Del Mar's standards of excellence as outlined in the Fairmont Grand Del Mar's Colleague Handbook.
  • Maintain positive guest relations at all times, resolving guest complaints and ensuring guest satisfaction. Greet guests in a courteous and caring manner using Forbes standards of service.
  • Responsible for routine general maintenance and repair of HVAC/R field as directed by immediate supervisor. These responsibilities can include painting, drywall installation and repairs, carpentry, groundwork, irrigation systems, flooring, concrete, lighting and basic electrical repairs.
  • Ensure adherence to all OSHA regulations and internal safety policies and procedures.
  • Operates company vehicles as required.
  • Conduct routine preventative maintenance on all equipment as assigned.
  • Supports other Engineers as needed.
  • Responsible for conducting all responsibilities in a professional and ethical manner.
  • Responsible for maintaining a consistent, regular attendance record.
  • Ensure cleanliness in assigned work spaces.
  • Maintain an adequate stock of parts and ensure cleanliness in assigned spaces.
  • Adherence to Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and safety precautions.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • One year of experience in commercial general maintenance, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or commercial flooring.
  • Knowledge of standard concepts, practices and procedures in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or commercial flooring.
  • Must be able to read Engineering drawings and technical literature.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction and procedure and technical manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or colleagues.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret and extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Must be able to successfully pass applicable skill testing.
  • Material Handling Equipment certification as required.
  • Valid Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record may be required.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

Fairmont Grand Del Mar is open 24hours per day, seven (7) days per week; therefore, you must be flexible to work any and all shifts. While performing the duties of this job, the colleague is exposed to hazardous chemicals, odor, dust, moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. Work surfaces may be slippery, steep, and/or rugged terrain. The colleague may work in outside weather conditions and may be required to work in inclement weather. The colleague is occasionally subject to outside environmental conditions and to wet and/or humid conditions.
