About The Job
Dudek is seeking senior-level professionals to provide as-needed biological surveys and environmental construction compliance services. This position will be based at project sites within Southern California and with potential opportunities located throughout all of California. Candidate would have demonstrated expertise in a specific environmental resource area including but not limited to biological and aquatic resources,

you will have the opportunity to shape.

Duties and Responsibilities (may include some or all of the below):
  • Work with construction crews and environmental resource leads to document compliance levels related to environmental regulations.
  • Oversee the installation and maintenance of environmental exclusion fencing, wildlife fencing, sediment and erosion control devices and material and waste management.
  • Record and take notes of any observations on a Dudek platform to be used for reporting purposes.
  • Follow all Dudek and construction site safety protocols.
  • Ability to travel to Project sites located in southern and central California.
  • Comfortable with hiking long distances in potentially inclement weather/heat and rough terrain.
  • Posses a high level of attention to detail and ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, or other related field; AND a minimum of 8-10 years demonstrated field experience in biological resource management and surveying.
  • Must have the ability to be insured to drive a vehicle and/or current auto-insurance.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have active personal automobile liability insurance by first day of employment.

* As a federal contractor, successful candidates are required to pass the following pre-employment requirements prior to beginning employment: pre - employment drug test and background check.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Highly organized with the ability to multi-task.
  • Possess sound judgement and able to "think-on-your-feet".
  • Self-motivated with an interest to learn and grow as a project team.
  • High level of understanding of current environmental regulations.
  • Possess a valid USFWS 10(a)1(A) permit to conduct protocol surveys for species throughout California, including but not limited to: least Bell's vireo, California gnatcatcher, southwestern willow flycatcher and other federally listed species within California.
  • Consulting and/or research experience working with raptor species in North America, with at least 5 years of experience with Golden Eagle in San Diego County.
  • Experience serving on technical review panels, advisory groups, or similar expert role.
  • Has expertise and experience identifying common and rare plant species and/or using dichotomous keys to identify plants.

Working Conditions:
  • This job requires project site visits which are based outdoors which can include excessive noise, uneven walking surfaces, extreme weather, moving vehicles and equipment.

  • This job requires attending meetings, both in person and virtually as well as speaking on the phone or in person with government agency representatives, members of the public, and others. Speaking, hearing and listening are required.

  • Outdoor activity may involve walking/trekking in uneven terrain over long distances in extreme weather conditions for extended periods of time.

Proposed Salary Range: $40-$85 hourly*
*Final agreed upon compensation will be based on a variety of factors including but not limited to an individual's related experience, education, certifications, skills, and work location.
