Shared Services: Risk Management (Full-Time, Day Shift) -
Job Summary: The Fire Prevention Technician implements the Fire Safety Management Plan for all LLU facilities and others as necessary. Identifies and investigates incidents of fire and life safety-related issues. Liaisons with insurance providers through inspections and collaborates on recommendations to mitigate risk. Coordinates and oversees Environmental Tours. Conducts inspections and organizes documentation under the Fire Prevention/Life Safety Program. Develops and delivers Safety education programs and provides safety-related training as required. Ensures communication of safety information to employees of LLU facilities. Conducts orientations and in-service safety training. Oversees programs as assigned for fire protection and life safety. Performs other duties as needed.
Education and Experience: Associate's Degree required or an additional one year of experience required in lieu of degree. Bachelor's Degree preferred. Minimum three years of life safety and fire prevention experience required.
Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of applicable codes, regulations and standards in order to provide consultation and guidance to assist departments in implementing safe practices and complying with regulations. Able to work with hand tools, handle fire equipment, operate fire protection systems. Able to proficiently use safety equipment and instruments. Able to demonstrate lifting techniques for evacuation training purposes. Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Operate/troubleshoot basic office equipment required for the position. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; collaborate and accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; problem solve; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; work independently with minimal supervision. Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.
Licensures and Certifications: Valid Driver's license required at time of hire.
