Dynavax is a commercial-stage biopharmaceutical company developing and commercializing novel vaccines to help protect the world against infectious diseases. Our proprietary CpG 1018 adjuvant powers our diversified infectious vaccine portfolio, which includes HEPLISAV-B, our commercial product approved in the U.S. and the European Union, for prevention of hepatitis B virus in adults. We also supply CpG 1018 to research collaborations and partnerships globally. Currently, CpG 1018 is being used in development of COVID-19, plague, shingles, and Tdap vaccines.

The Manager, Business Development will report to the Senior Vice President, Business Development and assist in identifying and screening opportunities and help to maintain, update and adjudicate an opportunities database. This position will also contribute to establishing relationships through corporate, academic, and government collaborations and partnerships, including in/out licensing. The Manager, Business Development will work closely with multiple functions, including Commercial, Medical Affairs, R&D, Legal and Finance to identify and negotiate new partnership opportunities for Dynavax.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain and update an opportunities database to identify potential collaboration/in-licensing opportunities and contribute to build a credible pipeline.
  • Assist in maximizing the value of Dynavax assets by out-licensing.
  • Working together with the relevant internal functions, evaluate, negotiate, and close, preclinical and clinical stage vaccine opportunities/collaborations.
  • Establish, manage, and maintain relationships with partners in industry, academic institutions, and government.
  • Independently develop ideas/proposals for collaboration
Qualifications
  • BS degree required; PhD/MD/MS preferred.
  • Ability to understand the underlying science and business of Dynavax.
  • 3+ years relevant business development experience; vaccine industry experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in successfully leading, negotiating, and closing collaborative deals with industry, academia, and government.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills.
  • Outstanding collaboration and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Highly organized, ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
  • Ability to sit; stand; walk; reach with arms and hands; lift and move small objects; and use hands to keyboard and perform other office related tasks including repetitive movement of the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Occasional travel required, as needed.
Pay Range
  • The estimated salary range for this position is $128,000 to $152,000. Final pay determinations may depend on various factors, including, but not limited to experience level, education, geographical location, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The total compensation package for this position also includes other compensation elements such as stock equity awards and participation in our Company's discretionary annual bonus program. Dynavax also offers a full range of health and welfare insurance benefits, 401(k) company match, and paid time off benefits, including 17 paid holidays in 2024.
