We are seeking a qualified and compassionate child and adolescent Psychiatric Nurse practitioner to join our California practice. The ideal candidate should possess excellent clinical skills, a deep understanding of psychiatric disorders, expertise in the coordination, monitoring and adjustment of treatments that include the use of medications, and the ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team.

Reporting to the Clinical Director, this is an exempt, full-time position located in our San Mateo, California office.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive diagnostic evaluations and second opinion medication consultations to children and adolescents with complex mental health and learning disorders.
  • Prescribe and monitor medications, adjusting dosages as necessary to effectively treat mental health disorders and ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Collaborate with our empirically trained psychologists, neuropsychologists, social workers, and speech-language pathologists on cases requiring behavioral treatment and cognitive testing, to deliver integrated and coordinated care.
  • Maintain a compassionate and therapeutic rapport with patients, fostering a supportive and trusting therapeutic relationship.
  • Document all patient encounters accurately and in a timely manner, maintaining compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Stay abreast of current trends, research, and developments in psychiatric nursing to ensure the delivery of evidence-based and patient-centered care.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a current, valid, unrestricted license as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in the state of California or be in the process of obtaining that license.
  • Certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) from a recognized certifying body.
  • Minimum five years clinical experience in psychiatric nursing.
  • Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology and evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to ethical and legal standards in psychiatric nursing practice.
  • Demonstrated experience with professional writing.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of individuals/groups.

The salary range for the position is posted. Factors such as candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations affect the salary offered within this range. In addition, this salary may be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state and depending on the role), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting. The potential for variable compensation will be considered based on experience.
