Job Description - Sr. Director Operations - Inventory Management

Overall Responsibility:

The Senior Director of Inventory Management reports to the Vice President of SDG Manufacturing Operations and is responsible for the management and control of all SDG Production Inventory. This will be achieved by providing the essential business expertise to manage and control the SDG Inventory located throughout the world. This will be accomplished using expert knowledge to implement strategies to achieve continuous inventory accuracy and optimal on hand inventory balances. Done while ensuring that the Inventory Operations are integrated with the manufacturing functions of Planning, Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, Production, Order Fulfillment and Field Support.

Job Description and Key Focus Areas:

Understand and identify the company's needs, studying feedback from internal and external parties, and analyzing existing systems with the intent of implementing solutions that address the weaknesses and vulnerabilities of the SDG inventory management system.

  • Provide Leadership needed to keep the material management processes running smoothly.
  • Employ Problem-solving skills to identify and address problems, resolve operational gaps to successfully achieve the goals of the business.
  • Employ excellent communication skills to lead and manage the Inventory Management Team and to coordinate with the rest of the Operations Team.
  • Incorporate the principles of manufacturing systems regarding logistics, supply chain management, materials management. Plan how to use resources efficiently and economically. Create solutions and systems to solve problems related to waste and inefficiency associated with operational inventory. Identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Lead the group to develop process improvement strategies following GMP guidelines.
  • Manage cross functionally with quality, logistics operations, procurement, finance, sales, and marketing.
  • Employ SAP for inventory management.
  • Employ lean and six sigma principles for continuous improvement.
  • Redesign Inventory Management Processes and Procedures for Inventory Accuracy
  • Manage 3PL partnerships.
  • Train and certify the team to written procedures while developing to skills and capabilities
  • Manage the improvement of inventory accuracy and utilization.
  • Manage root cause analysis of excess and obsolete inventory. Implementing corrective actions.
  • Manage Physical Inventory accuracy through cycle counting and discrepancy reconciliation.
  • Identify and disposition inventory excess and obsolete, investigate causes and implement changes.
  • Establish Key Performance Indicators creating and reporting.
  • Manage RMA reverse logistics and spares inventory levels at field warehouse locations to targeted levels. Track usage and replenishment.
  • Implement actions to facilitate the Synopsys Digital Transf0rmation Initiative.

Skills Required:
  • Value stream, process improvement, and project management tools and methodologies.
  • Experience managing projects, people and complex products and systems within a complex, global value stream (across multiple sites, organizations and disciplines).
  • Project management skills (project planning, scheduling, executing, monitoring and closing) within cost, schedule and scope constraints.
  • Success defining and improving IT-enabled business processes, developing new products and services, and streamlining operations for multi-national corporations.
  • Experience with multi-site ERP and product data management (PDM) tools used in the electronics industry.
  • Experience in product lifecycle (PLC) processes and product information flow used in the electronics industry, including concurrent execution of the PLC involving various functional groups.
  • Knowledge of lean six sigma and/or design for six sigma problem solving tools and methodologies.
  • Leveraging knowledge of problem-solving tools and methodologies to drive projects to completion effectively and efficiently.

The base salary range across the U.S. for this role is between $152,000 - $228,000. In addition, this role may be eligible for an annual bonus, equity, and other discretionary bonuses. The actual compensation offered will be based on a number of job-related factors, including location, skills, experience, and education.
