The Getty Research Institute (GRI) is seeking a limited-term Library Assistant II to facilitate description and access to the GRI's unique materials. The focus of this position will be to enhance description of the Photo Archive, a collection of over 2 million documentary photographs of western art from antiquity through the early twentieth century, organized by chronology, medium and culture. This is a one-year limited-term position.
Reporting to the Special Collections Archivist III who will oversee the project, the Library Assistant II will concentrate on increasing discovery of material by adding folder-level description to existing box-level finding aids for the various sections of the Photo Archive. They will also work on basic maintenance tasks, such as replacing loose box labels, placing fragile or damaged photographs in Mylar sleeves and creating circulation records.
