OPPORTUNITY: SENIOR TAX ACCOUNTANT - REMOTE (MUST BE BASED IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA)

Job Summary:

The Senior Tax Accountant is responsible to prepare federal and state income tax returns for partnerships (including LLCs) and corporations for in-house tax department within a private real estate developer company (SRG). This position also performs assignments such as tax projections, estimated tax payments, extensions, and some administrative tasks.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has some supervisory responsibilities to review and/or supervise tax returns prepared by tax accountants.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

    Preparation of tax workpapers and federal and state income tax returns for partnerships and corporations, focusing predominantly on real estate industry.
  • Assist with the preparation of tax projections and federal and state estimated tax payments and extensions.
  • Determine reasonableness and accuracy of book financial information by applying the principles of accounting to analyze the books and schedules prepared by SRG corporate, commercial, construction, and residential accounting departments.
  • Interface with organization's controllers and accountants to discuss accounting issues, complex transactions, and required adjustments.
  • Assist in the completion of the tax department's administrative needs, including preparation of correspondence, filing, scanning, copying, billing, vouchers, and other items as they arise.
  • Organize and maintain tax records and databases.
  • Correspond with taxing authorities to resolve tax notices.
  • Perform tax research and proactively monitor federal and state legislative changes.
  • Perform other duties, as needed.

Required Competencies and Skills:

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience with partnership tax preparation at a CPA firm and a bachelor's degree in accounting or related field years of related, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Other Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge of real estate tax accounting and compliance.
  • Advanced proficiency with income tax preparation program, preferably ProSystem fx Tax (Profx)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.

Salary range is $43.27/hour - $60.10/hour. We offer a competitive compensation package that includes a 401(K) match, rental incentive and renewal compensation, bonuses, and rental discounts depending on location. Regular full-time employees who work between 30-40 hours a week are eligible for medical, dental, vision, other voluntary benefits and vacation accrual, Sick time accrual is provided in accordance with law.
